The Jubilate Singers is a mixed-voice community choir specializing in multicultural music that reflects the cultural diversity of Toronto.
The Jubilate Singers, founded in 1969, is a mixed-voice community choir based in Toronto. Under the direction of Isabel Bernaus, the choir presents a unique blend of music from around the world, sung in original languages. Recent performances have included African, Asian, Latin American, Finnish and Eastern European music, as well as the standard classical and Canadian repertoire.
The Jubilate Singers are all volunteer members and, with non-singing supporters, put in as many as 3,200 volunteer hours per year. In normal years, the choir offers free concerts at hospitals, retirement communities, settlement houses, and seniors’ centres and also donates free tickets to community organizations for people who would not otherwise be able to attend cultural events.
