The JUEL Foundation recognizes female student athletes who balance academic success and community service with playing elite basketball.
Vision
To invest in future leaders to benefit everyone.
Mission Statement
To encourage and motivate high school aged female student athletes to be well rounded individuals while competing in the sport of basketball at an elite level.
Overview
Playing any sport at an elite level requires an incredible amount of commitment and dedication which makes it very difficult to dedicate quality time to work on and develop the other more important skillsets for life. These include academics, community involvement and personal growth. At some point playing sports at an elite level will stop; in most cases sooner rather than later which makes the other skillsets that much more important. Skillsets the student athletes will require and use for the majority of their lives.
With training several times per week and competing at a high level, focusing on a successful education in preparation for choosing a career after sport and being a well-rounded person, there is little to no time to get a job to help offset the costs of college or university. Overwhelming young women and their families can force them to walk away from the sport they love never knowing what they could have accomplished.
Although a degree will provide career opportunities for these young women, competing in sports also provides a strong base and helps develop a valued team player for any organization. This is why balancing all aspects are crucial.
The JUEL Foundation aims to recognize and provide assistance to the student athletes who are able to achieve and balance academic success and/or community service while training and competing at an elite level in basketball. The JUEL Foundation grants will allow athletes to dedicate and manage their time in these disciplines knowing part of the educational financial burden has been reduced. Developing well rounded people not only benefits the individual person but the community at large as well.
Every spring, elite female student athletes playing basketball can submit and be evaluated for a JUEL Foundation grant. If awarded, the allocated funds will be held in a savings account managed by the JUEL Foundation. The funds will go towards college or university related qualified expenses the student athlete incurs and chooses to pay until their allocated funds are used up. Reimbursement payments will be made directly to the student athlete once invoices have been forwarded to the JUEL Foundation.
Student athletes can apply for the JUEL Foundation grant every year they are eligible and can be awarded on multiple years potentially building a larger amount of funds.
Eligibility
All student athletes must be registered with the JUEL Foundation. To qualify for registration, the student athlete must be enrolled in high school courses during the year they apply. Student athletes registered in their first year will not qualify for the grant, but if they are awarded in their second or additional years, they will be credited with those years plus the first year.
