Our Mission

JUMP Math's mission is to help all children achieve their full potential by encouraging a deep understanding and a love of math in students and educators, as well as to use math as a means to build the social and emotional skills required for long term academic and life success. And, by demonstrating that all students can achieve demonstrable academic success, we seek to change the way society thinks about potential, in general.

About JUMP Math

Founded in 2001, JUMP Math operates as a social enterprise, providing K-8 curriculum materials, and related professional development and coaching.

Curriculum Materials: Our teacher and student resources are based on the latest research from cognitive neuroscience and the expertise of mathematicians and teachers. Our approach is designed to improve the learning experience and reduce math anxiety among both teachers and students.

Professional Development and Coaching: JUMP Math is collaborating with faculties of education at leading universities to develop and provide scaffolded, time-efficient professional development and coaching to enable educators to develop true mastery. Our Outreach Team is composed of highly experienced teachers who work closely with K-8 classroom teachers, principals, administrators, and parents throughout the year. Our goal is to build deep understanding of mathematical principles and JUMP Math instructional practices.

Mounting evidence from multiple sources show that when students are taught using our instructional materials and approaches they progress at up to twice the rate of students taught using other math programs.  Because math skills are closely linked to graduation rates and employment opportunities, JUMP Math improves the future prospects of our students.

Mathematics, rather than being the most difficult subject, can be a subject in which children can most easily succeed in – even at a young age – and can thereby develop the confidence and cognitive abilities they need to do well in other subjects.

Students who believe they are good at math start to believe they can be good at anything!
