The Kaslo & District Public Library provides equal and inclusive access to resources - materials and programs - in a functional and safe environment. Our mission is to be the community gateway to lifelong learning and enjoyment for Kaslo & Area D residents. In 2020, KDPL celebrated 100 years of service.

After 39 years of providing library services from the ground floor of  City Hall,  additional ways to improve or expand the premises are exhausted. We have truly outgrown the space.

Time for a new library:  In partnership with the Village of Kaslo, the Library Board is working towards a new library for Kaslo & Area D. The land has been purchased through a Columbia Basin Trust Land Acquisition Grant and Village reserve funds that fundraising (donations, auction, grant) has replenished. Community support has been outstanding. The Village will own the land and building and lease to the library as current provincial legislation (see Library Act) does not allow public library associations to own land or buildings.

Now the Fundraising Committee is seeking donations for the building. 

A new purpose built library facility  will offer greater accessibility, comfortable areas, more selection & technology tools,  a tech-enabled meeting room and a large program space available to other community groups.
