The Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society (KICS) is a volunteer-driven community-based salmon hatchery and environmental education centre.
The Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society (KICS) is a not-for profit, volunteer driven community based salmon hatchery and environmental education centre. KICS was established over three decades ago in response to the near extinction of salmon stocks in the Shuswap River. We are a watershed enhancement organization dedicated to interactive, hands-on ecological education, featuring salmon and watershed restoration.Guided by a mission to reunite people with the natural world, we welcome thousands of visitors annually to engage in outdoor discovery in our 10-acre “living classroom”. Set along the banks of the pristine Shuswap River near Enderby, British Columbia, amidst the lush Interior Rainforest, we are one of few places in BC that engages participants with a first-hand experience of salmon in their habitat. The site offers an abundance of information, sights, smells and sounds. It is a great place to bring your family and friends for education, exploration and relaxation!
