Music to move you!
The Kingston Chamber Choir is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that provides a richly varied repertoire of music to Kingston and area audiences and brings world-renowned guest artists to the Kingston community.
The KCC presents a four-concert series every year, hires new generation artists, local artists and artists of national and international stature. We collaborate and partner with other performing arts groups and organizations and our music director mentors student groups. We commission works by Canadian composers such as aboriginal composer Andrew Balfour, and Gananoque composer Sarah Quartel, who is published with Oxford University Press and recognized on the world stage as bringing a distinctly Canadian voice to the international choral market. While we perform the works of composers – sometimes works in other languages – from the Baroque period to the contemporary, concert program repertoire is often Canadian.
A new partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington resulted in the first annual December performance for people with dementia and their caregivers on Dec. 9, 2016. Music is central to recalling memories and emotions for people with dementia. We also arranged for seniors in retirement residences to attend our annual Homes for the Holidays seasonal event in historic Sydenham Ward in partnership with Kingston Trolley Tours and Canadian Tire.
