about

Our Mission

The Kingston Historical Society, established in 1893, is a not-for-profit volunteer organization actively working to create, foster and maintain interest in the history and heritage of the City of Kingston and surrounding area.

About KINGSTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Kingston Historical Society holds monthly meetings with guest speakers, publishes a monthly newsletter (Limelight) and a yearly journal (Historic Kingston).

The Society operates the Murney Tower National Historic Site as a museum. Murney Tower is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Rideau Canal and the Kingston Fortifications).

The Society organizes and sponsors special heritage events and publications.

Annual events include a trip with a historical focus, a celebration of Sir John A. Macdonald's birthday, and a ceremony at Sir John A. Macdonald's gravesite at Cataraqui Cemetery.
