An annual festival of onstage events, writing workshops, and educational outreach that joins readers and writers in the love of books.
About Kingston WritersFest
For seventeen years, this Readers and Writers Festival has been a gem in Kingston cultural life, bringing authors and audience together with onstage conversations, performances, and Writers Studio master classes for writers of every level from novice to experienced—and creating outreach programs for our community.
Among our author alumni are Nobel Prize winner J.M. Coetzee, Margaret Atwood, Ian Williams, Madeleine Thien, David Mitchell, Joyce Carol Oates, Michael Chabon, Jane Urquhart, Emma Donoghue, Esi Edugyan, Lawrence Hill, and Omar El Akkad, to name a few. And we have introduced to our stages new faces that have become household names, such as Michelle Good, John Valliant, and Louise Penny.
In our effort to bring books to readers of all ages, backgrounds, and interests, we collaborate with Kingston Literacy & Skills, Limestone and Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Boards, Queen’s University and numerous local arts partners, sharing the joys and insights of words in all their forms—fiction, poetry, memoir, mystery, romance, fantasy, graphic novels, and more.
Thank you for supporting Kingston WritersFest through our BookLover Program for one-time donations and through our Page-Turners Monthly Giving Club. All donations through Canada Helps receive an immediate charitable donation receipt.
