The International foundation André Gilbert is a non-profit making company whose mission consists in promoting the health and the physical good condition of the young people resulting from mediums economically underprivileged. The foundation is implied socially and voluntarily since 1987. The sport in general and karate in particular make it possible to the children to have an autonomy; a concentration in their studies; besides developing a self-confidence and a driving coordination. For this purpose, the International foundation André Gilbert created a program offering one year teaching of karate (self-defence) for a hundred OF children coming from single-parent family, with low-income and or family providing the Security of the income. The whole supported by experienced professors, champions of karate, former students, police officers and speakers of underprivileged or specialized milieux (CLSC, psychologist).

Objective and mission

1) Encourage children to play sports, teach discipline, respect, the desire to succeed and reach their goal in life;

2) Contribute to reducing the school dropout rate, running away, joining street gangs;

3) Help reduce the number of children left alone and provide assistance to parents in distress;

4) Offer social and physical rehabilitation with specially adapted programs;

5) Involve children in the active life of the community
