To help flatten the curve of the COVID-19 Virus...we volunteer to help the less fortunate in our area, we will not be picking up any returnables at this point as the Island Return It and Bottle Depot are closed, as well Until we are cleared from this virus we will not be accepting any items for donations as this would involve bringing our volunteers out in droves and we do not want to put them at any unnecessary risks ......The Lake Cowichan Foodbank will be doing things a little differently at our next distribution day in order to help flatten the curve of COVID-19. We are hoping that we will have grocery cards to give to our clients where they can go and shop for what they need, if able. We have already received a donation from some community members, thank you the Hartman's for your 100.00 donation to help us do this .. the Cowichan Lake Community Forest Cooperative has stepped up to the plate and is donating $4000 to help us provide to our small, medium and large family clients. We still have a number of single youth, adults and seniors that apply to the food bank for help, a card that they use at Country Grocer would be great. You can support the Lake Cowichan Foodbank by making a monetary donation through the CanadaHelps.org or by contacting us at 250-709-7854 ask for Katherine, or email us at email@example.com or you can make connection with the Lake Cowichan Country Grocer and let them know that you would like to purchase a $50.00 shopping card for the food bank and it can be left on hold there for me to pick up before our next distribution day which is on Wednesday April 8th. Thank you all so much, and stay safe out there.
