Lakelands Public Health is the local public health agency serving the County of Haliburton, the City of Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland County, and the City and County of Peterborough. Working with community partners Lakelands Public Health strives to protect health, prevent illness and injury, and promote overall -well-being for everyone who lives, works, and learns in the region including urban indigenous and rural communities, Alderville, Curve Lake, and Hiawatha First Nations.
As an Ontario Public Health Agency, LPH is mandated by the province of Ontario and the Ontario Public Health Standards, 2008, to provide programming related to family health, chronic disease and injury prevention, environmental health, infectious diseases, and emergency preparedness. LPH puts a strong emphasis on meeting specific local needs in these areas and is deeply committed to addressing the social determinants of health in our communities.
