Our Mission

The Land Conservancy's mission is to preserve and protect natural sites and landscapes in Kingston, Frontenac County, and Lennox & Addington County.

About the LC-KFLA

Protecting one of the most amazingly diverse and still-wild regions of southern Ontario

The region stretches from the islands in Lake Ontario through the limestone plains to the boreal forests in Canadian Shield country to the north. It includes part of the UNESCO-designated Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve and the Algonquin to Adirondack conservation focus area.

Committed to preserving vital habitat for species survival

The Land Conservancy has no paid staff. It is run entirely by volunteers who are striving to create a continuous corridor of protected lands in the region, with a focus on the land between Frontenac Provincial Park and Puzzle Lake Provincial Park.

Every penny the Land Conservancy receives from members, donors, and funders is used for land acquisition and stewardship.

A growing group of supporters -- and hectares conserved for nature

Incorporated in June 2004, the Land Conservancy currently protects ten properties, owning eight and holding conservation easements on two, a total of 306 hectares (756 acres), providing habitat for 18 species at risk.
