The Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation (LACF) was established in 1988 by senior members of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects as a charitable organization. Since its creation, LACF has raised funds to support research, communication and scholarship activities that reflect the core values of the profession of landscape architecture.
The profession of landscape architecture strives to balance human use and enjoyment of land with conservation and health of the environment. The Landscape Architecture Canada Foundation (LACF) supports this fundamental ideal, which includes (but is not limited to):
- conserving and managing environmental resources;
- accommodating the needs of humans in the environment;
- Promoting sustainable development;
- enhancing and improving aesthetic quality in the landscape.
Over the past 25 years, LACF has supported a wide range of activities and projects including the development of habitat design guidelines, historic research and documentation, recording of oral histories, professional education programs, design research, publication of conference proceedings and communication projects.
