What is L'Arche Antigonish?

L'Arche Antigonish is an inclusive community nestled in the heart of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Here, people with and without intellectual disabilities come together to share life, fostering deep connections and mutual respect. Since 1979, L'Arche Antigonish has been a beacon of hope and support, serving over 45 individuals with intellectual disabilities, supported by a dedicated team of over 60 staff members, volunteers, and board members.

Our Homes

Our community is enriched by five warm and welcoming homes—Covenant, Emmaus, Hope, Dixie, and Jubilee—and one supervised apartment. These homes are not just places to live; they are spaces where everyone is encouraged to build meaningful relationships, discover their strengths, and celebrate their unique gifts. Integrated into the core of Antigonish, our homes are vibrant hubs of love and belonging.

Our Programs

At L'Arche, we believe that every person deserves the dignity of meaningful work and engaging daytime activities. We offer three distinct daytime programs—Cornerstone, Horizons, and The Studio—that cater to the diverse needs and talents of our core members and the wider Antigonish area. These programs provide opportunities for personal growth, skill development, and community involvement.

Our Summer Camp

In addition to our year-round programs, we host a joyful and enriching summer camp for youth with intellectual disabilities, ages 5-21. This camp is a highlight for many, offering a variety of activities that promote fun, learning, and friendship. It's a time when our community comes alive with laughter, creativity, and the spirit of togetherness, making unforgettable memories for all who participate.
