We are deemed an essential service and we are in lock down! We have never lived this in our 48 year history. We are giving 24/7 in-home support to the members of our organization living with intellectual disabilities. Typically, most members work or attend activities and events outside their homes almost every day. Now everyone is home 24/7. The call for increased in-home support in this locked down situation is taking a toll on Assistants (staff). Several have resigned this past week to ensure their health and well-being. The call for increased supports is having a financial impact. Thank you for considering our need during this extraordinary time.
