After 49 years of vibrant community living, L’Arche Toronto is ready to welcome additional persons with intellectual disabilities (core members) to join our community. Here they will find home and will engage with Toronto’s wider community in a more direct and mutually enriching way.

L’Arche Toronto is currently home to 21 core members who live with assistants in four detached residential homes in East Toronto. These older homes are multi-story structures that have not kept pace with the needs of those with mobility challenges.

Since 2015, L’Arche Toronto has been exploring new housing models that are attractive,accessible, cost-effective and community-friendly for L’Arche Toronto’s future housing.

A new home, approximately 4,000 square feet, all on a single floor in a new condominium development project, has been identified as one that could be adapted to welcome five core members and three assistants to a fully-accessible lifestyle. This home would increase our housing complement by 25%, a much needed resource in the city of Toronto given there are over 4,000 people on the waiting list for supported housing. 

Such an opportunity has now become available in Regent Park, located in the heart of Toronto. This condominium in the Artworks Tower is located at 130 River Street.

The campaign EVERYONE BELONGS! will raise $3.8 million over the next three years to create a more inclusive community in Toronto.
