Twenty-eight years ago, the dream of the folks in the Central Gatineau Area was to have an arena. Hard working community volunteers built this arena. The Central Gatineau Arena Association is a volunteer charitable organization that owns and operates the arena. The municipality does not own the arena. The arena supports itself solely through ice rentals and fundraising activities. Youth in the central Gatineau area benefit from having a full-sized arena close to home, participating in minor hockey, pick up hockey and public skating. The arena donates ice time to the local high school, St Michael’s High School for their winter sports curriculum and their two hockey teams. Adults operate a curling league at the arena and there are men’s and women’s hockey teams who play at the arena.
