Le PAS de la rue's mission is to support and assist all individuals aged 55 and over who are experiencing homelessness or severe precarity.
Mission of Le PAS de la rue
For the past 28 years, Le PAS de la rue has been welcoming, supporting, and accompanying people aged 55 and over who are experiencing homelessness, are at risk of becoming homeless, or are living in severe precarity. Our approach is rooted in prevention, inclusion, stabilization, and empowerment.
From Monday to Friday, our organization offers a full range of free services: two daily meals, psychosocial support, outreach intervention, and social activities tailored to the realities of the people who visit our two day centers, located in the Centre-Sud and Mercier-Est neighborhoods of Montréal.
Since 2011, we have also been offering residential stability support through our Relais program, and since 2020, we have provided community support to residents living in our 59 permanent housing units.
Le PAS de la rue stands out for its holistic and deeply human approach that goes far beyond the traditional day center model. We provide comprehensive support that recognizes the unique journey and dignity of each person, fostering recovery, social reintegration, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Every donation directly supports our programs and operations — from our food services and daily activities to psychosocial accompaniment, outreach work, and housing support. All of our services are entirely free for older adults living in homelessness or extreme poverty, which is why community support is vital to our mission.
Together, let’s help restore hope and stability to some of the most vulnerable seniors in our society.
