The Quebec-Guatemala Accompaniment Project (PAQG) is a solidarity organization based on the voluntary commitment of human rights activists.

Its mission is to support Guatemalan civil, political, social, cultural and economic rights defenders who are victims of exactions. Our volunteers accompany these activists in their struggle for justice and observe the human rights situation in the country. Our teams in Quebec implement activities designed to raise public awareness of international solidarity issues and to encourage mobilization and commitment.

The PAQG wants to contribute to the global movement for the respect of human rights by participating in the improvement of the human rights situation in Guatemala.

The general principles that guide the mission and actions are as follows: 

The PAQG responds to a clearly expressed need on the part of the beneficiaries of the accompaniment.

The PAQG intervenes with a full understanding of the overall context in which it provides support, and respects this context.

The PAQG is composed of supporters, volunteers and institutions from different sectors of Quebec society.

The PAQG relies essentially on the involvement of volunteer members who participate in the development and realization of activities that make up the work of the PAQG.

The PAQG attempts to incorporate as many voices and perspectives as possible in the development of its work and supports and encourages diversity in all its forms.

The PAQG is a long-term project that seeks positive impacts beyond its intervention.

The PAQG operates independently of any power, political, economic or religious force.

The PAQG contributes to the activities of solidarity organizations in Guatemala upon request, in a spirit of sharing its resources.
