Le Salon’s immediate critical acclaim and participation success was followed by a rapid development of its programming. It quickly became one of the most important literary events in French Ontario. Many of its partners, including public funders, have acknowledged le Salon’s unique approach: a rich and exciting festival where words are celebrated through different shapes and forms, be it workshops in schools, lectures, literary shows, and multidisciplinary activities. Le Salon’s programming (a year-round calendar of activities that includes a festival on even-numbered years and a reading marathon on odd-numbered years) brings together not only residents and partners from the Greater Sudbury Region, but attracts visitors from the Nipissing, Hearst-Cochrane, Ottawa, Toronto regions as well as from the province of Quebec.
