About LEDUC & DISTRICT FOOD BANK ASSOCIATION (LDFB)

We are a short-term emergency service and we service the 7 municipalities within Leduc County.

The core function of the Food Bank is to return donated food and goods to community members that are in need in an atmosphere that allows them as much privacy and dignity as is possible.

The LDFB has a number of programs to help those who struggle with food security in our region:

A. )Food Hamper Program - short term assistance with a nutritious food hamper. Available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

B. & C.) School Snack Attack (SSA)& Tools for School programs (TFS) (working with over 40 schools within the region).

D.) Bread Basket Program (BBP)- Can register to receive an extra food hamper between the Food Hamper program. The BBP consists of Bread, pastries, and available fresh produce and dairy.

E.) Kitchen Learning Center (KLC) - KLC was designed to work with LDFB and agency clients in increasing knowledge of food safety, usage, nutrition, budgeting etc. this program works with a number of agencies such as Mental Health, Brain Injury (skills). Fetal Alcohol (Bridges Mentors Program), Boys and Girls Club, Early Childhood etc.

Life Skills Learning Center - The skills center is a collaboration with other agencies to fill the gaps. The center offers very creative and innovative programs to help people develop skills and become self sufficient.

We are a community-driven and supported organization that relies on community donations and volunteer support.

We work closely with all available social agencies and referrals to other agencies are made as necessary.
