For many of us bluebirds signal the arrival of spring. Sadly, their populations have decreased dramatically. The Cornell Lab of Ornithology says bluebird numbers dropped by about 24% between 1966 and 2015. Much of this decline is due to habitat loss.
This fall, in conjunction with international GivingTuesday on December 3, we are launching a special fundraiser to continue our conservation efforts.
This year the focus of our program — “Give Our Bluebirds Wings” — is two-fold: building more nest boxes to expand our bluebird trail, and enhancing bluebird habitat.
Donate and your name could be drawn for one of more than 35 gifts.
$100 or more: You & a friend travel with Mountain Bluebird expert Ron Reist as he monitors his bluebird trail next year.
$75 or more: Be one of the first 30 people to donate and you are next year’s sponsor of one of Legacy’s bluebird nest boxes. We’ll keep you posted on what’s happening with your feathered family during the breeding season.
$50 or more: Your own bluebird nest box made by Ron Reist.
$25 or more: You could win a set of beautiful bluebird cards (Veronica Reist), or one of Legacy’s 2020 calendars.
