Our Mission
The Friends of Gatineau Park is a cooperating non-profit charitable organization founded in 1999 whose mission is to foster understanding, appreciation, and protection of the Park's natural and cultural heritage.We collaborate with the Gatineau Park staff to achieve this mission.
What We Do
Nature Education
To reach our goals, we offer independent nature and historical heritage interpretation and we provide interpretation services for the National Capital Commission.
We help people discover the wonderful world of nature and the Park.
Research and Citizen Engagement
We also offer funding and volunteer help for research projects being conducted in the Park or about the Park. In addition, we manage participatory programs to engage the public in concrete actions for the Park.
Your Donation
With your help, we can fund research projects about the natural habitats found in the Park, offer fun educational activities about the Park and nature in general; encourage the public to protect the Park and help people discover it.
You can donate using one of the categories below:
- General: to let us use the funds at our discretion in achieving our mission to foster understanding, appreciation and protection of Gatineau Park;
- Cameron-Purenne Fund: to help us fund scientific research about the Park's natural habitats and species;
- Graeme Roderick Fund: to help us acknowledge the work of outstanding volunteers, and promote the importance of volunteer commitment within the organization;
- Education and Interpretation Fund: to help us develop and offer stimulating educational activities, as well as purchase materials and equipment.
