Donations to the LIFE*SPIN Housing Investment Fund have helped us to move forward on our vison to build permanent affordable housing for low-income families.  We now have a site survey and preliminary drawings for a new-build of housing, that we hope to start building next year.  

The search for safe, affordable and suitable housing in London is very difficult for low-income earners, those on financial assistance programs, and homeless individuals. This is mainly due to the lack of affordable housing, rising rents and decreasing real incomes. Poverty rates for groups such as one-parent families, First Nations people, recent immigrants, and persons with disabilities remain unacceptably high. One of the most disturbing trends is the dramatic increase in single and two-parent families which are being forced into emergency shelter.

Literally, thousands of families have been on the waiting list for affordable housing in London, for many years, however most of the units created are only one-bedroom.  Our existing family units bring so much joy to our community, as we have seniors and disabled tenants interacting with new parents, offering a mutually supportive environment for all. Mixed housing has given us a winning combination and we are ready to build more homes, where residents are provided opportunities to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals.

When people have a safe, affordable place to live, they have a place to thrive.
