Nanaimo Loaves and Fishes Community Food Bank is dedicated to ensuring that all people in Nanaimo have access to nutritious food. We recover unwanted yet edible food from local grocery partners, sort the food through our hundreds of volunteers and give it to over 3500 people in need per month. Our 11 depots run 6 days per week and provide services without income or family dynamic restrictions. We also provide unlimited free food to 44 local non-profits and 16 schools’ meal programs.  Since January 2017 we have diverted 111,457 kilos of food from the landfill to families in need.

In order to provide sanitary food for our clients it is imperative that we have clean plastic bins to hold the food. Our new warehouse's bin washing station is not draining the water adequately after the bins are washed. Often times after washing, the floor remains wet for hours. It is imperative that we have our warehouse operations running smoothly to continue the much needed work we do in our community. Having clean bins is an integral part of this.
