To bring greater awareness to Loeys-Dietz syndrome (LDS) by encouraging education, fostering research and providing support for those impacted by LDS.
About Loeys-Dietz Syndrome Foundation Canada
The LDSF-Canada was founded in 2010 by three families impacted by LDS. Since 2011, we have distributed over 1,000 medical packages as well as a "head-to-toe" checklist to doctors and medical professionals in North America and internationally. We have attended or presented at over 30 conferences promoting awareness within the medical world.
In late 2011 the LDSF-Canada held its first multi-disciplinary holistic clinic at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Montreal. This clinic is staffed with medical professionals from the Shriners, Montreal Children's and Ste-Justine. The objectives are to reduce the time required for a diagnosis from 2-3 years to 3 weeks and to provide better illness management resulting in more favourable outcomes. An adult clinic was launched in 2012 with the Montreal Heart Institute as our host partner.
