Supporting the Opéra de Montréal means...

Prioritizing Quebecois and Canadian culture through the creation of new 21st century works that tackle subjects relevant to us, in which Canadian singers, stage directors, artisans, musicians, and designers demonstrate their know-how, while also sharing their vision, values, and perspectives from here at home.

Giving the artists working in this multidisciplinary art form an opportunity to be central to the creative process and respecting their artistic approach, while offering an assurance of quality and remaining open to the public.

Making opera accessible with competitive and affordable rates, Sunday afternoon performances, and packages for 18-34-year-olds. It also means presenting school matinees for elementary school students and three open dress rehearsals for high school students, every year.

Being present in the community through various initiatives: Let’s Talk Opera! discussions, preOpera talks, the Talent Gala, National Auditions for the Atelier lyrique, the presentation of productions outside our walls… and much more.

Collaborating with other cultural institutions, such as the Orchestre Métropolitain, ESPACE GO, the Centaur Theatre, and the Montreal Arab World Festival, as well as with establishments in various other sectors of activity, like universities, music and theatre conservatories, hospitals, major Montreal and Canadian-based corporations, and technological research and innovation centres.

Fostering the inclusion of people from all backgrounds—by reaching out to the most vulnerable with specific needs (people with mental health issues, the visually or hearing impaired, etc.) to the more experienced—through their involvement in various projects like YO’péra and through the variety of topics addressed in our productions.
