Starling Community Services - formerly known as Lutherwood - is a progressive, not-for-profit health and social service organization that strengthens people's lives by providing mental health, employment, and housing services to more than 14,000 people annually in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. We are expanding our services to meet the needs of our diverse community particularly BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities disproportionately impacted by discrimination.
Our Services
Since 1970, Starling Community Services has been a trusted source of accredited Children's Mental Health Services, supporting children, youth, and families facing emotional and behavioral challenges. Our preventative and supportive services are delivered in various settings, using proven practices to help families navigate life's complexities.
We operate Safe Haven Youth Services, providing a safe haven for 12–18-year-olds at risk of homelessness. Since 1989, Starling's Housing Services has assisted individuals in finding and maintaining permanent, safe, and affordable housing, including rental arrears and deposit assistance where qualified, service resolution support, and housing information.
As a leader in Employment Services, we offer a range of programs that help individuals secure and retain employment. We also support newcomers in adjusting to the Canadian workplace and assist employers in recruiting and training employees. Additionally, we provide customized outplacement and adjustment services to aid employers and workers during workplace transitions.
Starling Child and Family Foundation works with donors to direct their donations to areas of greatest need such as operating a shelter for youth & supporting children struggling with their world.
