Our Mission

M-DO is a charitable world Music and Dance Organization that takes its name from the Tibetan word for 'meeting point.' Like the city of Toronto, M-DO is a place where cultures come together, tradition is honoured, and new creative ideas are born. Education forms a major part of our mandate. We offer North Indian classical KATHAK dance classes, performances, workshops, and outreach programs, all of which strengthen the connections to art and culture in our society. The name drives the organization’s programming, which offers increased insight into the variety of cultural influences that inform dance, artists, and ultimately our local community. This process enhances greater cultural receptivity at this most important time. Through studio space rental, we also support the work of others in our vibrant arts community.

About M-DO

As a charitable arts education organization, M-DO aims to promote Canada’s ever increasing artistic diversity by:

- Providing a professional training program and ongoing classes in North Indian Kathak dance.

- Providing workshops at the highest artistic level in a variety of world dance and music forms,

- Maintaining a public performance schedule to present traditional, collaborative, contemporary and cross-cultural dance and music events in the community,

- Providing a comfortable, professional studio space for performance, rehearsal and assembly for others in our community,

- Our student/community outreach project

- Encouraging cross-cultural connections
