Manitou Asinîy-Iniskim-Tsa Xani Centre

about

The Manitou Asinîy-Iniskim-Tsa Xani Centre (MAITX) is a not-for-profit, First Nations-led organization, formed to rematriate the Manitou Stone, a sacred meteorite that the Plains Tribes see as the living embodiment of the Creator, that is currently housed in the Royal Alberta Museum. The new Centre will be in Alberta and will support the revitalization of Indigenous Plains culture and teachings through the spirit of the Manitou Stone. The Manitou Asinîy-Iniskim-Tsa Xani Centre (MAITX) is focused on the restoration and advancement of Indigenous languages, cultures and spiritual education. Indigenous worldviews and cultural norms have traditionally been passed down through the oral tradition. Storytelling is the method by which they are shared. In creating platforms to preserve Indigenous culture, people feel connected to the earth, their communities, and each other, which supports and advances the wellbeing of First Nations people. The advancement of Indigenous Languages, Cultures, and Spiritual Education will benefit all Albertans, Canadians, and international visitors providing cross-cultural understanding, preservation and revitalization of Indigenous language and culture.  Artwork by Keegan Starlight. www.starlightdesigns.ca All rights reserved.
