About MANJARI SANKURATHRI MEMORIAL FOUNDATION (MSMF)
Empowerment of the poor through proper education, health and timely help to needy is the mission with which Dr. Chandra Sekhar Sankurathri established a foundation, Manjari Sankurathri Memorial Foundation (MSMF) in Ottawa, Canada in 1989. This foundation is in loving memory of his wife, Manjari Sankurathri and two children Srikiran (7 yrs) and Sarada (4 yrs) who were killed in the Air India (Kanishka) disaster on 23rd June, 1985, off the coast of Ireland.
A careful study of the people and their needs for two years resulted in the establishment of three major programs to realize the objectives of self-reliance and improvement of quality of life for the poor and needy.
The Foundation conducts three major programs.
i) Sarada Vidyalayam - a Primary School, a High School, and a Vocational Training Centre,
ii) Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology - an eye hospital, and
iii) Disaster Relief Program - an emergency relief operation.
