Our Vision
We understand the importance of connecting to the natural world for ourselves, each other, and all of its inhabitants. We practice, demonstrate, and inspire others to connect with nature through the keeping of Manuels River.
SUSTAINABILITY
We contribute to sustainability by protecting the River valley and all its inhabitants. By being involved with, and encouraging, conservation efforts, we show that we care, and that our River is worthwhile. Its inherent value is in not only its beauty but in all that it provides us. It is our job to educate and work with the community to protect our natural environment; to safeguard it for it to be pristine for generations to come.
GROWING MINDS
We foster growing minds by delving into the world around us, and sharing what we find here with each other, and with all who visit. We aim to educate, by sparking curiosity about the natural world, as we explore through keen observation and hands-on experiences. We provide experiential learning opportunities for students of all ages, to find a sense of wonder, and to be able to make their own personal connections and discoveries. It is our job to provide opportunities for lasting impressions.
WELLNESS
We facilitate wellness by acknowledging the interconnectedness of all things, and the need for healthy relationships with nature, ourselves, and each other. We know that the health of the river, the surrounding area, and all of its living things are interdependent, and they rely on a delicate balance, so we aim to keep our water, soil, and air clean. We help our community make the most of our River, Trails, and Interpretation Centre. It is our job to provide safe and accessible spaces and programs for activity, exploration, adventure, and recreation; to sustain and nurture the well-being of our community.
To date, with the help of its supporters we have accomplished:
• Over 6 km of walking trails on the north and south side of the Manuels River
• Rotary lookout with three storyboards with descriptive river layouts.
• New Gazebo next to the campfire area
• Three welcoming archways to signal the start of the trail system
• Three steel pedestrian bridges
• Public Interpretative programs
