Over 25 years ago Marie began rescuing stray cats and kittens from behind her restaurant Ollie's Fish & Chips in Barrie. She began Furry Friend's Animal Rescue in Barrie and succesfully rescued and found homes for thousands of cats. In 2019 some nasty people decided they would "stage a coup" and removed Marie from her role of President and as a voting member.
In her early 70's, she picked herself back up and began Marie's Cat Rescue. Over the years she has served the community with the help of many volunteers. They care for, and provide medical attention to assist in finding cats and kittens their “furever” homes.
