As we make it through the first half of the year, here are some highlights of what your generous donations helped us do.
113 birds have been surrendered so far in 2025. The highest number by species is the budgie at 48 birds. We want to educate the public and owners that there is a huge homeless budgie problem currently in Edmonton and we encourage folks not to breed their pairs. Speaking of education, we are very pleased to announce the creation and implementation of our parrot adoption course. It provides valuable information and insights about being a responsible bird owner and gives the prospective adopters the opportunity to make informed decisions about pet care. This initiative is also meant to reduce the amount of people who adopt birds and then wish to very quickly surrender them based on the amount of care and attention their pets require.
