MCS is growing and expanding!
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) opened a one-person office in Aylmer 1977. It very soon became evident that more help was needed. Ever since then, MCS has been growing. In 1982 the Thrift Store opened. Five years later, the Aylmer Resource Centre opened followed by a number of other services, including employment services and the Family Education Support Project of Aylmer. In 2003, De Brigj Low German Radio station began airing programs.
MCS is as much needed now as it has been in the past. This last year, for example, 130 new newcomer families came and received services at the Aylmer Resource Centre, and that impacts all of our other services, whether it's Employment Services or our Family Education program.
MCS has procured new facilities for much needed space to help meet the needs in our community. The plaza at 300 Talbot St. W in Aylmer is a 2.1 acre compound with 32,000 square feet of building. The Aylmer Thrift Store has successfully relocated to this space, providing a better shopping experience for all and better facilities.
