Record numbers of immigrants are coming to Canada and this trend is expected to continue in the years to come.1 At the New Life Centre, we walk together with newcomers as they find housing, enroll their children in school, look for jobs, and begin to make Canada home.
We are excited to be expanding our adult education programming to support more internationally trained professionals in bridging their skills and experience to the Canadian labour market.
It changed my life in Canada. It prepared me with all transferring skills to a new professional environment, using a variety of adult learning activities. – Ahmed H., Bridging Program graduate
Our new space will house THREE programs that support immigrant employment:
The BREM Program (Bridge to Registration & Employment in Mental Health) will help psychotherapists, psychologists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals rejoin their profession more quickly, so they can provide much needed mental health support to diverse populations across Ontario.
The BEMC Program (Bridge to Employment in Media & Communications) will help journalists and other media professionals transition to their field more easily, strengthening the voices and sharing the perspectives of our multicultural communities.
The Toronto New Life Wellness Place is a social enterprise that encourages patrons and practitioners alike to focus on their wellness, allowing them to grow and thrive. Patrons enjoy a suite of wellness services within a welcoming, multicultural, and multilingual environment, all while supporting immigrant talent. We, in turn, support our practitioners in developing their independent practices and filling the wellness needs of communities across Toronto.
We have the people, we have the plan, and we have the expertise – but we need your help to build the space!
Large, bright classrooms. Modern technology and equipment. Private offices for interviews. Communal space for networking and socializing. These components will set new immigrant professionals up for employment success.
Your donation is an investment in your community. The faster newcomers are employed in meaningful work, the faster our communities benefit from the skills and talents they bring.
So the New Life Centre helped me, and now I'm able to help others. – Alexandra R., client
