ABOUT US

Men’s Sheds Canada is a national charity dedicated to reducing loneliness and isolation among men by supporting the growth of the Men’s Shed movement across the country.

Across Canada, many men experience social isolation, particularly after retirement, bereavement, health challenges, or other major life transitions. Many men are also less likely to seek help through traditional programs or formal support systems, making community-based, peer-driven approaches increasingly important.

Men’s Sheds offer safe, welcoming, informal spaces where men can gather, share skills, build friendships, and find a sense of purpose and belonging. While activities may vary from Shed to Shed, the real impact comes from the connections formed through conversation, companionship, and mutual support. Importantly, Men’s Sheds provide a place for connection before isolation becomes crisis.

Men’s Sheds Canada helps strengthen and grow the Men’s Shed movement nationwide by providing resources, startup support, grants, awareness-building, networking opportunities, and guidance for existing and emerging Sheds. We also work to increase awareness of the important role Men’s Sheds can play in supporting healthier, more connected communities.

At a time when Canada is engaged in a growing national conversation about men’s and boys’ health — and too many men continue to die prematurely from preventable causes linked to isolation, poor mental health, and disconnection — Men’s Sheds offer a practical, community-based approach that helps men stay socially connected, engaged, and supported.
