Building Hope and Homes in Perth
About CHIP
Community Housing Initiative Perth (CHIP) is a citizen-led group working with Carebridge Community Support to address Perth’s growing housing crisis. Together, we’re building 15 affordable apartments at 63 Halton Street creating safe, stable homes for local families in need, with support services to help tenants thrive.
The Need
Safe, stable housing is foundational to a healthy community, yet the need is urgent:
- Over 300 Perth residents are waiting for affordable housing
- More than 600 people across Lanark County cannot find housing within their means
- Many are seniors, single parents, people with disabilities and those on fixed incomes
These are our neighbours, people striving for stability and a better future.
Why It Matters
Homes that change lives: Fifteen families will have a stable place to live, allowing parents to work, children to flourish and individuals to live independently.
Community and economic impact: This project supports local jobs, strengthens businesses and reduces pressure on emergency health services, saving public dollars over the long run.
A proven partnership: $4.3 million has been committed: $3.2M from Lanark County, $600K from Ontario, $500K from Carebridge and land donated by the Town of Perth valued at $190K.
Join Us
We’re halfway there. Our $300,000 local fundraising campaign is over 50% complete, with $150,000 still needed to ensure construction proceeds toward completion and occupancy in the fall of 2026.
Together, we can create lasting change, by supporting CHIP you help turn housing insecurity into stability and hope into homes.
