Milo and District Agricultural Society is a volunteer driven, registered charity, whose mandate and diversity makes it invaluable in the communities that it serves. The object of this society is to encourage improvement in agriculture and enhanced quality of life for persons living in the community by developing educational programs, events, services and facilities. Facilities operated and supported include a community hall and kitchen, skating arena, fitness centre, business centre, senior drop-in centre, curling rink, baseball diamonds, park/playground, etc. Organizations and values supported include health services, fire services, library & archives, school, kindergarten, pre-kindergarten, 4H clubs, annual community fall fair, newsletters, agriculture, history, arts and culture. Communities served are: Village of Milo and district, Vulcan County, Siksika Nation, Hamlet Queenstown, communities around Lake McGregor, etc. The rise of corporate agricultural structures directly affects small rural communities, resulting in decreased populations, decreased incomes for some segments, increased income inequality, decreased community participation, fewer retail outlets and less retail trade, and increased environmental pollution. The Milo and District Agriculture Society strives to keep and support rural services and amenities in the area to promote growth and provide a quality rural living experience!
