Our Mission

Milton Transitional Housing Corp (MTH) is a community-based registered Canadian charity providing bridge accommodation and supportive counselling to those in Milton who are experiencing housing crisis as they work towards securing a stable home. MTH’s mission is to help those in housing crisis "move from HOPE to HOME". MTH provides innovative transitional affordable accommodation; offers options to achieve individual independence; and inspires hope for Milton’s families and individuals who are in housing crisis.

About Milton Transitional Housing Corp

The Milton Transitional Housing program became a reality in July 2011 with a volunteer board and start-up funding support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. MTH’s first participant was accepted into the program in February 2012. As of fall 2016, MTH has eight supported housing units and plans to add one more before the end of 2016, and reach our goal of providing ten supported transitional housing units by 2018. In the first four years of operation we have helped six people/families graduate to their own independent housing.

MTH is supported by grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Halton Region Community Investment Fund, Halton Region Social Services, several private trusts, fundraising events which include the Fashionista Flip in January, the Coldest Night of the Year walk in February, and MANY INDIVIDUAL DONORS!

Halton Region’s Comprehensive Housing Strategy has identified transitional housing as a big part of the solution to the problem of housing crisis. Transitional housing is designed to be a bridge from the short-term emergency system to long-term affordable housing. With MTH, this “transitional” period can extend from 4 to 24 months and offers housing at subsidized rental rates with supportive counselling to help achieve their goals.
