The Ministry to Seafarers meets with visiting seafarers, communicating the saving grace of Jesus Christ, through words and deeds. We are a chaplaincy ministry focused on support for and outreach to seafarers who pass through the Port of Vancouver, Canada. At present 1 full-time chaplain is employed throughout the year as well as a part-time Development Assistant. Our vision is to visit as many ships as possible which pass through the Port of Vancouver in order to share the Good News of God’s love in Jesus Christ with seafarers in Word and deed by providing literature and other resources, by serving them in practical ways at the seafarers’ centres, and by engaging in quality Christian dialogue whenever and however possible. Most years an intern is also hired to serve during the summer months. We partner with the Anglican Mission to Seafarers and the Roman Catholic Apostleship of the Sea (AOS-Stella Maris), serving at the downtown centre and at Roberts Bank. Ministry to Seafarers is also a member of the North American Maritime Ministry Association (NAMMA).
