Mission Tournesol doesn’t give money to those with cancer or their families, but accepts to help them by paying certain bills or providing services for a time and a specified amount. 

With the collaboration of the oncology team (nurse and social worker) of the CSSS du Témiscamingue (hospital organisation in Abitibi-Témiscamingue), Mission Tournesol helps to fulfil the needs that aren’t covered by other organizations. 

Mission Tournesol helps to pay for transportation costs to Rouyn-Noranda for the first visit with the oncologist and/or the urologist when someone receives a cancer diagnosis. 

Mission Tournesol assumes the costs of proteins and/or nutrition supplements (ex:  Ensure or Boost). 

Mission Tournesol helps to pay for care at home, babysitting, transportation and housework done by local social/culture organizations. 

Mission Tournesol helps to pay for lymphatic treatments following cancer. 

Mission Tournesol may pay for other costs that aren’t reimbursed by another community or governmental organization.
