MonsterArts is a Mississauga-based charity connecting communities via South Asian arts programs for seniors, youth, families and newcomers.
MonsterArts is an award-winning, Mississauga-based registered charity that addresses systemic cultural and economic gaps in underserved, diverse communities via inclusive arts and cultural programming. Through festivals, interactive workshops for youth and seniors, artist mentorship, and youth employment initiatives, we foster creativity, support emerging artists, and strengthen community wellbeing.
Our programs include:
-Since 2011: #BollywoodMonster Mashup, a multi-day South Asian arts festival featuring FREE concerts, dance performances and family activities. The festival is an accessible space for tens of thousands of South Asian families and newcomers to reconnect with their culture and experience high-quality art.
-Since 2013: #MonsterArts for Youth, where professional artists provide school children of all backgrounds with workshops in Bollywood and Bhangra dance, Tamil music, ghazal writing, mandala-making and more. The program has reached 20K+ schoolchildren across the Peel, York, Halton & Waterloo regions.
-Since 2017: #MonsterMasterclass, a mentorship program where professional artists learn marketing & entrepreneurship skills and meet industry gatekeepers to help them bring their South Asian arts practice to the public. The program has helped 200+ diverse young artists further their careers.
-Since 2018: #MonsterArts for Seniors, which fills gaps in cultural and language-specific services for older adults with professionally-led arts workshops in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati and more. The program has helped 5K+ participants reduce feelings of social isolation.
