Together, we are facing a time of uncertainty and an urgent call to protect the most vulnerable members of our society. The challenge to our healthcare system posed by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is unprecedented. While the elderly are at risk, so are many of our young patients with illnesses that have weakened or destroyed their immune systems.
Quebec and the rest of the world are on hold. But there is no respite for our young patients and the Children’s staff.
With the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) now designated a hospitalization centre for COVID-19 patients, The Montreal Children's Hospital is ready to assist our adult partners and accept certain adult COVID patients and has adapted it's capacity for the unlikely eventuality. The Children's will continue to provide care to medically fragile patients with chronic healthcare needs who require medical assessment and intervention.
