This year, your contribution will go towards establishing an endowment in partnership with the Waterloo Region Community Foundation so that the Majdi Bou-Matar Bursary can remain as a permanent support for artists who are making a difference in our communities.

Majdi Bou-Matar founded MT Space 2003 after immigrating from Lebanon and struggling to make a career for himself in the Canadian arts sector, being told he “didn’t look or sound the part”, or that he didn’t understand the “Canadian system”. Now two decades later, MT Space is a world-renowned organization that has shifted the status quo and continues to advocate for increased access to the arts for all. This bursary is one part of ensuring that Majdi’s legacy and hard work continues.
