Context
Pechersk School International (PSI) is the first and only school in Ukraine authorized to offer the three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes — PYP, MYP, and DP — to students aged 3–18. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) since 2003 and successfully reaccredited in 2023, PSI delivers education at the highest international standards.
Since February 2022, Ukraine’s education system has been deeply disrupted by the ongoing war. Missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure have caused prolonged electricity outages, particularly during winter months, forcing schools to shift abruptly between in-person, hybrid, and distance learning. At the same time, much of the technology currently used by students and staff is outdated and nearing the end of its supported lifecycle, creating cybersecurity risks and limiting compatibility with modern educational platforms.
As a highly digitalized, technology-driven school, PSI relies on learning management systems, cloud-based platforms, and STEM-focused methodologies across subjects. Reliable, standardized devices are essential to ensure educational continuity, digital equity, and effective technical support. Without them, students’ ability to fully participate in learning — especially during emergencies — is compromised.
This project aims to provide 30 students with standardized iPads aligned with PSI’s digital ecosystem. The devices will be used daily in classrooms and temporarily loaned to students during periods of forced distance learning, ensuring uninterrupted access to lessons, assignments, and learning tools. In a context of war and instability, this initiative preserves educational quality, equity, and a sense of normalcy for children in Ukraine.
Goals
- Provide 30 PSI students with standardized, high-quality iPads that meet international educational and security standards.
- Ensure continuity of education during emergencies, including power outages and security-related school closures.
- Promote digital equity by giving all students equal access to educational platforms and STEM programs.
- Increase student engagement and effective use of digital learning tools in both classroom and home settings.
- Strengthen PSI’s IT infrastructure with secure, up-to-date, and fully compatible devices.
