Education is not only a right in Palestinian society; it is a deeply rooted cultural value, especially for women. In a region marked by decades of conflict and instability, education has become a form of resilience and survival. Palestine ranks #1 in education among the 22 Arab countries, and Palestinian women boast a literacy rate of 94%, with 61% of university students being female.

Education equips Palestinian women with the tools to become providers, protectors, and leaders within their households and society.

This project directly addresses this need by removing financial barriers and enabling women to pursue their academic and professional goals. By investing in their education, we not only honor a cultural legacy but also ensure that Palestinian women are prepared to lead in times of crisis, rebuild in times of peace, and raise generations rooted in strength, knowledge, and hope.

Goals

To remove financial barriers to education and provide Palestinian women and girls with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to excel academically, thrive professionally, and strengthen their communities for generations to come.

Activities

• Provide scholarships: Award financial support to Palestinian girls based on merit and need, enabling access to education without financial barriers.
• Build an alumni network: Create a supportive community for recipients to connect regularly, share experiences, and access mentorship focused on leadership, empowerment, mental health, and advocacy.
• Offer paid internships: Provide practical work experience with InterAct in areas such as translation, IT support, training, and public speaking, tailored to each girl’s skills and interests.

Myriad Canada is working with InterAct International on this project, a US-based nonprofit whose mission is to build lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians by 2030 through fostering genuine understanding and creating spaces for meaningful dialogue. The organization is dedicated to strengthening relationships between Muslims, Jews, and other communities connected to the region, both within Israel/Palestine and globally, while also supporting humanitarian efforts to assist all citizens and communities in the region.
