The National Abortion Federation (NAF) Canada promotes, enhances, and ensures access to quality abortion care.

ABOUT NAF CANADA

NAF Canada promotes reproductive health among Canadian women and pregnant people by ensuring that abortion care is accessible and carried out to the highest standards. We work closely with several free standing clinics, physicians’ offices, and hospitals, who provide abortion care for more than half the pregnant people seeking care in Canada.

We support physicians, nurses, counsellors, and administrators in providing safe, high-quality abortion care. We help improve abortion access by increasing the number of health care professionals educated and trained in abortion provision.

We also provide financial assistance for patients through the Dr. Henry Morgentaler Patient Assistance Fund. This Fund helps pregnant people in Canada whose abortion care is not covered by provincial/territorial health insurance or who have to incur travel expenses in accessing abortion care. This fund honours the legacy of NAF member Dr. Henry Morgentaler, who brought the Supreme Court case that decriminalized abortion in Canada. By donating to this fund, your gift will go to help women and pregnant people in Canada access the safe, high-quality abortion care they need. 

HOW DONATIONS HELP

Although abortion has been decriminalized and covered by the provincial/territorial health care system, some pregnant people continue to face barriers in accessing this care. Your donation today will help us continue our work to ensure that women and pregnant people across Canada can access the abortion care they need. With your support, NAF Canada will work to:

• Educate and train health care professionals in providing safe, high-quality abortion care;
• Help ensure that medication abortion (by pills) is accessible throughout the country;
• Provide critical financial assistance through our Dr. Henry Morgentaler Patient Assistance Fund so that pregnant people not covered by the provincial/territorial health care system can obtain the abortion care they need; and
• Assist women and pregnant people with expenses related to travel when they can’t access abortion care services in their home community.
