The National Music Centre celebrates and preserves Canada’s musical legacy through education, exhibitions & artist development.
The National Music Centre is a charitable organization located in Calgary, Alberta. Housed at Studio Bell, the organization maintains a substantial music-related museum collection, a 300-seat performance space, and a variety of programs that develop and promote music in Canada - including curriculum-based education initiatives and an artist-in-residence program.
Mission | To give Canada a place that amplifies the love, sharing and understanding of music.
Vision | The National Music Centre is a national catalyst for discovery, innovation and renewal through music.
History | Construction began on Studio Bell, the National Music Centre’s home, in 2013. The 160,000-square-foot, architecturally stunning building opened on Canada Day 2016. Since that day, more than 185,000 visitors from around the world have experienced the power of music within its walls. Through donor support, interactive education programs, artist incubation, engaging exhibitions, and daily performances continue to inspire discovery and connection.
Thanks to generous contributions, one of the most impressive music collections in the country has been preserved and showcased - more than 2,000 rare instruments and artifacts, alongside the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame Collections.
Every note played, story shared, and artist supported is made possible through the passion and generosity of those who believe in the power of music to move a nation.
