New Growth Family Centre Inc. is a registered charity located in Wellington North/Mount Forest, ON that offers support to families experiencing challenging behaviour at home, at school, in the community. Our Coaching Program addresses emotional and social needs equally with basic school skills. We assess the underlying conditions that result in challenging behaviour at home and that increase at school. Our Parent Coaching Program has proven successful in maintaining healthy family relationships by being accessible in-the-moment, especially during a crisis which can prompt 911 "mental health" responses which escalate the situation and  cause more fear and confusion for all involved. Our goal is to equip and empower parents/caregivers to effectively manage challenging behaviours within their own home. With early help available within the community from New Growth Family Centre, parents can learn to recognize the underlying conditions that drive the behaviour and apply the proven strategies to improve quality of life for themselves and their children. Through in-person and virtual connection, we provide guidance and ongoing encouragement to introduce healthy, practical parenting methods that fit the family when they need it. There is no funding for prevention services such as ours, so we must depend on donations to operate and subsidize families when they need the help.
